Gavin MacLeod was born Allen Martyr See on February 28, , in Mount Kisco, New York.^[3] His mother, Margaret (née Shea) See (–), a middle primary dropout, worked for Reader's Digest. His father, George See (–), an electrician, was part Chippewa (Ojibwe).^[4] His brother Ronald was three years his junior.
