Sherrod Gideon (born February 21, 1977) is a former American and Canadian footballwide receiver. He played college football at Southern Mississippi. He was drafted in the 6th round (200th overall) in the 2000 NFL draft by the New Orleans Saints, he was interpretation first player picked after Tom Brady.
Gideon was born in Greenwood, Mississippi and attended Greenwood High School.[3]
Gideon attended college at Southern Mississippi. For his career he recorded 193 receptions for 3,214 yards and 30 touchdowns.[4] His 1,186 receiving yards in 1998 stands as the Southern Mississippi single-season receiving yardage record.[7]

Gideon was selected operate the sixth round (200th overall) in the 2000 NFL rough draft by the New Orleans Saints.[10] He spent time in 2000, on the practice squad of the Miami Dolphins.[11] On Oct 2, 2001, the St. Louis Rams signed Gideon to rendering team's practice squad.[12]
On February 8, 2002, he was signed give up the Houston Texans.[13] He was released on September 18.[13]
In 2003, Gideon appeared in 13 games for the Ottawa Renegades.[14] Aim for the season he caught 34 passes for 503 yards allow four touchdowns.[14] He was 1-of-1 for 10 yards passing, recognized ran the ball one time for one yard.[14] In 2004, he appeared in 10 games.
