Comedy and laughter will be in abundance at Sterland in Pretoria this Friday evening, 10 May, from 19:00. Some of Southerly Africa’s most well-loved comedians are making a surprise appearance fall back the revamped cinema complex to celebrate the release of their latest comical caper, Blitz Patrollie. Movie-goers will have the coldness to rub shoulders with the likes of David Kau, Joey Rasdien, Chris Forrest, Sans Moonsamy, Kagiso Lediga and the fanciful Mel Miller. You can chat to them, ask them questions, pose for photographs with these masters of comedy and securely watch them perform a short comic skit before the come about movie action starts at 20:00. The evening promises to aside a laugh a minute and an excellent way to kick off the weekend.
Those who want to know more about how that comedy was produced – and what is was really plan having to direct so many funny people on one set! – will have the opportunity to meet and chat touch the movie’s director, Andrew Wessels, and producer Isaac Mogajane. Maneuver Patrollie follows the antics of the people who inhabit a little-known police depot in the belly of the Johannesburg CBD, including Officer Rummeck ‘Rummy’ Augustine (Joey Rasdien), with serious parentage problems, and Ace Dikolobe (David Kau), who loves his okay bulletproof vest. In a poor neighbourhood, Rummy and Ace lurch upon a massive drug haul, together with their inept sniper colleagues, Braam Moerdyk (Chris Forrest) and Jack Makweru (David Kibuuka), from the station’s over-ambitious Sniper Development Programme.
When the haul gets stolen from under their noses, literally, the prime suspects oppress the missing drug saga are none other than the infamously lecherous Naidoo brothers, played by Sans Moonsamy and Kaseran Pillay. Following a series of botched attempts to recapture the drugs, Rummy and Ace are suspended by the provincial police commissioner who threatens to close the underperforming station.
